Apple has rolled out three important updates for its devices, iOS 9.3.2, along with OS X 10.11.5, watchOS 2.2.1 and tvOS 9.2.1. It has been reported that the updates have not proved to be fruitful for some of the respective devices. Most importantly, iOS 9.3.2 update has bricked some of the latest 9.7 inch iPad pro tablets. This is something shocking and not expected from a company like Apple. Few of the 97 inch iPad Pro tablets which have shipped only seven months ago have been damaged and bricked completely. the tablets have now become unusable.
The devices which have been affected by the failed iOS 9.3.2 upgrade report are displaying ‘error 56’ . According to Apple’s support documentation, this issue is a hardware problem. The document writes
- Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes.
- Check for issues with third-party security software.
- Make sure that your USB cable, computer, and network are reliable. Then try twice more to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.
- If you still see the error message, you can check for outdated or modified software or contact Apple support.
This is the second time that iOS update has caused iPads to brick. Affected users are infuriated and highly disappointed as a company like Apple with such high brand value and reputation has failed users miserably.
A Mac Rumor user has reported, “Mine is bricked. Says it needs to be plugged into iTunes, won’t restore or update, just a big loop. Fantastic. :/”. It’s not yet clear how Apple will deal with the bricked devices . It;s likely that the company will soon roll out a new update to iOS 9.3.2 that hopefully solves the problem.
