United States and 14 European countries have started strong mission against dark net websites and have shut down more than 400 such websites. Dark net websites are operated on Tor network. This Tor network prevents anyone from tracking locations and hence these websites become the ground for all sorts of illegal works. Silk Road 2.0 was an infamous drug dealing, money laundering website which has been shut down recently. If you open the website you will find that the website has been seized and also informed that the man arrested and charged is “Blake Benthall”, he was apprehended in San Francisco USA on Wednesday the 5th of November 2014. This united approach has caused world wide arrests and shutdown of 400 websites most of which were dealing child trafficking, drug dealing, extremism. Silk Route websites shows the following message:
“The alleged operator of the black market website Silk Road 2.0 has been arrested and the website shut down. The man arrested and charged is “Blake Benthall”, he was apprehended in San Francisco USA on Wednesday the 5th of November 2014.”
Troels Oerting, head of Europol’s European cybercrime center stated:
“Today we have demonstrated that, together, we are able to efficiently remove vital criminal infrastructures that are supporting serious organized crime, and we are not ‘just’ removing these services from the open internet; this time we have also hit services on the dark net using Tor where, for a long time, criminals have considered themselves beyond reach.”
A very good initiative in this way are protected against such websites that try to enter our personal lives and in this way violates our privacy and attacks us by various methods known only by them.
That was really a good approach we should smash such network site which used for doing illegal activities. We should stand and do our job if we have talent to do so, the more we go the more we find.
This is good news. Something that makes us hope that we can be safe using the internet, our children will be safe as well. Whatever we can get from getting online, should be useful, should be enjoyed by us, and not be misused, or used against us, or be used to take advantage of our children or misguided individuals.
This is good work by government. Due to the hidden website (tor) everyone buy gun drugs etc. But now government became strict. Ya awesome work.
great startup against illegal activities and i advice everyone to develope such attitude in putting things in a right way and helping children in making aware of such nonsense .
Finally, good news from that field. Hope there is just beginning of fight with dark net websites, so people all over the world can be more relaxed when they use the internet. Go For it!
The impact
of raids on so-called “dark net” websites has been “way overblown”
All attacks we have identified exploit the lack of
endpoint anonymity and are aided by
the effects of free riding. We have seen effective legal
measures on all peer-to-peer
technologies that are used to provide effectively global
access to copyrighted material.
Centralized web servers were effectively closed down.
Napster was effectively closed
down. Gnutella and Kazaa are under threat because of free
rider weaknesses and lack of
endpoint anonymity.
gret job taking those sites down especially those that have to do with child traffiking and pornography, but they shouldn’t stop there, they should bring those criminals to justice these people have no morals what so ever.
This is a good thing. I believe if you are using the Internet you shouldn’t be able to hide what you are doing. Maybe this can help out with putting a dent in the illegal activities online.
Finaly something good to read about shutting down websites and not again about filesharing sites, but real crimes like this. I’m honestly really glad to hear this.
