Last week Xiaomi announced launching of its latest flagship phone in India, the successor of Mi3, called Mi4. The phone is priced relatively higher than the other phones from Xiaomi. It will be available for RS 19,999 on Flipkart from 10th Feb and the registration has already been started.
Mi4 has a very powerful hardware as it comes with 3GB RAM and 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad Core Processor. This is close to Nexus 6’s specs, but Nexus boasts a Snapdragon 805. Multi-tasking will be a piece of cake for the Xiaomi Mi4. You should not be worried about poor performance or lags, even while playing high performance games. With a 5 inch 441ppi, Full HD LCD display you will have an excellent visual experience. It has a 13 MP rear camera for the people who love using their phones for taking photographs. The camera can shoot videos at 720p@120fps. It also has in store something for the selfie lovers, who might not need to rotate their phone to take good quality photos as the front camera itself is of 8 MP (Ladies are you listening). It has other standard features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and barometer. A 3080 mAh battery makes the phone last for roughly 9.5 hours of Web browsing or approximately 7 hours of Video Playback.
Unfortunately it is shipped with android 4.4(KitKat) and you will still have to wait a while for Lollipop. There is no external memory slot and only the 16 GB variant is available in India. This means you will get just 12 GB for your personal use, as 4 GB’s will be taken up by the OS. Xiaomi has planned to launch the 64 GB variant in sometime, which will be priced Rs 2000 higher. You may wait for it. Again, Mi4 doesn’t support the 4G networks in India, i.e. you will have 4G (LTE) technology in your phone but it might not be useful if you are in India. So no doubt Mi4 is good enough at this price with some minor (or may be major for some people) disadvantages. If still you want to have this phone, well, don’t waste time and register for your unit.
