Carphone Warehouse has been under cyber attack and as many as 2.4 million Carphone Warehouse customer data have been accessed. The data include encrypted credit card details. Even though major portion of the customer data remain unaffected, some of the separate sections of the company have been breached.
Sebastian James, chief executive of Dixons Carphone, said: “We are, of course, informing anyone that may have been affected, and have put in place additional security measures.
“We take the security of customer data extremely seriously, and we are very sorry that people have been affected by this attack on our systems.”
According to BBC, Users whose customer data have been affected can do the following:
1. Customers must notify their respective banks and credit card companies, so they can monitor activity on the customer account.
2. You have to change your password for your online account.
3. Aleays check your account for any suspicious or unexpected activity.
4. Do not disclose anyone your personal information, bank details or passwords.
5. Visit Experian, Equifax or Noddle and check your credit rating to make sure no one has applied for credit in your name.
