When it comes to intruding into the net user privacy no one could compete the ability of the United States’ NSA. But a recent report by Edward Snowden enlisted British spy agency GCHQ as a more voracious spying agent. About seven years ago, the UK’s electronic eavesdropping agency Government Communications Headquarters or GCHQ committed to one sole mission- to track every single user online and to trach every single website online. This did not even spare users watching porn websites. The domain in which the GCHQ runs their surveillance are social networks, social networks, search engines, blogs, pornographic websites and many more. The NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden revealed that the mass surveillance had been codenamed by the GCHQ as the Karma Police also wrote that the Karma Police taps into the internet cables of users monitor communications.
As far news are concerned, it is being speculated that the UK government is boosting more authority to the GCHQ in order to extend their surveillance area more and more. While one system handles the users’ web browsing history, the other handles chat, messenger history, social network history and another system is taking care of the suspicious Google searches. The data includes the participants but not the content of their conversation. This means that for a phone call the GCHQ will extract the sender and recipient details but not the audio content of conversation.
The exact legal rules that are being followed by GCHQ is not unambiguous. It was heard that GCHQ was storing about 50 billion metadata records about online communications and Web browsing activity every day.
